Capital Region Military Alliance Hosts Inaugural Fort Lee Civil-Military Community Welcome Tour

Updated: Nov 25, 2025

The Capital Region Military Alliance of Virginia proudly hosted the inaugural Fort Lee Civil-Military Community Welcome Tour on October 24, 2025, introducing Fort Lee spouses and families to the six communities that surround the installation—Colonial Heights, Petersburg, Hopewell, Dinwiddie, Prince George, and Chesterfield.

This event gave participating military families an immersive experience designed to showcase the region’s vibrant spirit, diverse amenities, and deep appreciation for those who serve.

Throughout the day, attendees enjoyed the sights, sounds, and flavors that make the area unique. Highlights included a concert, a stylish fashion show spotlighting local talent, the thrill of a Chili Peppers baseball game, the charm and theatrical artistry of the Swift Creek Mill Theatre, and an inspiring glimpse into the ongoing revitalization of Petersburg, a city steadily reclaiming its historic vitality.

“The Welcome Tour represents the heart of our mission—to build bridges between our military community and the localities that proudly support them,” said Becky McDonough. “By partnering with our six jurisdictions, we’re ensuring that Fort Lee families feel truly at home here in Virginia.”

The Alliance extends its gratitude to all participating local governments, businesses, and cultural institutions whose contributions made this first-of-its-kind event a success. Plans are already being developed for future tours that will continue to strengthen the enduring civil-military partnership that defines the region.
